PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active material having high capacity and high initial charge/discharge efficiency.SOLUTION: An active material of the present invention has a lamellar structure and includes a compound having a composition represented by the following formula (1) and one or more metal oxides selected from among ZrO, SnO, AlOor TiO. The metal oxides cover a surface of an aggregate of primary particles of the compound and fills gaps between the primary particles on the surface while satisfying a relationship of the following expression (2).
