<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure, even when a heating condition is changed according to a recording material, capable of reducing a decrease in productivity without restricting the configuration of a fixing roller 17 or a pressure roller 21. <P>SOLUTION: When a recording sheet is changed from a thin sheet to a thick sheet, an auxiliary roller 29 which has been preliminarily adjusted to a temperature higher than a setting temperature of the fixing roller 17 is brought into contact with the fixing roller 17. Thereby, the surface temperature of the fixing roller 17 can be raised in a short time so as to change the temperature to a temperature for thick sheets. Inversely, when the sheet is changed from the thick sheet to the thin sheet, the auxiliary roller which has been preliminarily adjusted to a temperature lower than the setting temperature of the fixing roller 17 is brought into contact with the fixing roller 17.
