671,931. Lathe details. USINES TORNOS FABRIQUE DE MACHINES MOUTIER SOC. ANON. Dec. 31, 1948 [Jan. 20, 1948; April 12, 1948], Nos. 33678/48 and 33679/48. Class 83 (iii). A rotatable and adjustable centre rest for automatic lathes, particularly those having a traversed headstock, comprises a tubular portion, for supporting the stock, adapted to rotate in a single needle bearing having needle rollers which are longer than the diameter of the inner race of the needle bearing. The stocksupporting tubular portion 13 is slotted at one end and externally coned to engage with a complementary part of a sleeve 21, and is keyed at 20 to rotate therewith. Adjustment of an end-nut 17 closes the stock-support around the stock. Needle rollers 23 are arranged between the sleeve 21 and a sleeve member 32 carried by a support 25. The latter is externally tapered to be clamped by a sleeve 26 in a stationary part of the machine frame. The sleeve 21 has an extended end-portion to which is secured a split collar 28 having rods 31, Fig. 3, secured thereto which extend into a sleeve 30 secured to a rotating part of the lathe. The supporting part of the rest is thus rotated at the same speed as the work. The external race or sleeve 31 and support 25 are shown, in a modified centre rest, coned and relatively adjustable, to provide for taking up wear in the needle roller bearing. |
