PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce wear of a nozzle and a cleaning member that is caused by friction and dust generation.SOLUTION: An adhesive application device 10 includes: a slit coater 12 serving as an adhesive application member which receives supply of an adhesive R and applies the adhesive R from a nozzle 12b provided at a tip to a substrate; and a cleaning member 14 which is disposed facing the slit coater 12. The slit coater 12 moves in a vertical direction toward a surface of the cleaning member 14 and places droplets D adhering to a tip of the nozzle 12b in contact with the surface of the cleaning member 14 to cause the droplets D to flow. Then, the slit coater 12 moves in the vertical direction so as to move away from the surface of the cleaning member 14 and removes the droplets D from the tip of the nozzle 12b.
