PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide string comparison instructions and logic circuits, implemented as a set of instructions to operate on specific data types.SOLUTION: A computer implemented method comprises: according to a single instruction multiple data (SIMD) comparison instruction, comparing every valid data element of a first packed data operand 410 with every valid data element of a second packed data operand 420; and storing a first result of the comparison in a register 440.
