The present invention relates to apparatus and method for preparing optical switching particles used in electrophoretic displays whereas the apparatus (16) comprises two main parts -spinner assembly (1) and motor (2) for driving the spinner assembly (1). The disclosed apparatus is driven by flat brushless motor (2) that is mounted on the spinner assembly (1) and is the integral part of the whole apparatus and not standing separately.
