A microscope illumination apparatus (4) includes an optical conversion unit (7) that converts laser light incident thereon from a light source to laser light (L3) that has an NA and whose main optical axis is distributed on a conical surface that widens at a predetermined angle with respect to an incident optical axis (X) of the laser light, and from which the laser light (L3) exits, and an optical device (8) that has no refractive power and that deflects the laser light (L3), which has exited the optical conversion unit (7), in a direction parallel to the incident optical axis (X), wherein the microscope illumination apparatus (1) focuses laser light (L4) that has exited the optical device (8) at a pupil position (P) of a focusing lens (3) for illuminating a specimen (S) or a position (Q) that is conjugate with the position (P). |
