An aqueous paint composition comprising by weight of the total composition i) from 1 to 6%, preferably from 2 to 5% chelating thickener ii) from 2 to 8%, preferably from 3 to 5% clay thickener and Ëi) from 0 to 30%, preferably 5 to 20% clay extender whereby said composition is capable of being formed into a self- supporting, dimensionally stable paint body.
