Microwave transition device between a microstrip line and a rectangular waveguide

To combine the different technologies of a microstrip line and a rectangular waveguide, for example on a ceramic, in a transition device comprising a mode transformer (4) between the line (1) integrated into a printed-circuit card (2) and the waveguide (31-321-322), the card (2) comprises a housing (26) containing the waveguide with one long side (31s) coplanar and coaxial with the strip (11) of the line and the other long side (31i) fixed to a metal layer (23) of the card at the bottom of the housing. A metal linking element (6) straddles a mechanical tolerance gap (5) between the transformer and one of the elements comprising the line and the waveguide. The transformer may be integrated into the card, or into the waveguide, in a microwave component (3).
