PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for manufacturing a composite material in a short period of time.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a composite material includes the steps of: placing a surface material 3 in a chamber box 2; dividing the inside of the chamber box 2 into a first space S1 including the surface material 3 placed therein and a second space S2 including a core member 4 placed therein by closing a dividing unit 6; heating the surface material 3; placing the core member 4 in the second space S2 while the surface material 3 is being heated; depressurizing the first space S1 and the second space S2; opening the dividing unit 6 to make the first space S1 communicate with the second space S2, bringing the core member 4 and the surface material 3 relatively close to each other, and covering a part to be covered of the core member 4 with the surface material 3; and pressurizing the inside of the chamber box 2 to bond the surface material 3 to the part to be covered of the core member 4 so that the surface material 3 fits the part to be covered of the core member.
