A sensing system (100) is provided with: a light source (11) to which a subject to be detected is supplied close to a light output region from which light amplified by means of two reflecting surfaces and a waveguide is outputted; a protection film (12) that protects a waveguide core portion from the subject; and a light detector (13) that detects light intensity changed due to influence of the subject.
