A cylinder lock (10) with a rotating tumbler pin (80), a sidebar (50), and a slider (100) has a keyway (16) with a ward projection (25) into the center of the bitting area (152) of a key blade (134) received by the keyway (16). The tip (90) of each rotating tumbler pin (80) seats on the bitting surfaces (162, 170, 178) remaining to the sides of a center warding groove (154) of the key (130), and the tumbler pins (80) that are engaged by the bitting on the side (136) of the key blade (134) do not seat on more than half of the width of the blade (134). Half the pin width is removed from each tumbler pin (80) near the tip (90) thereof. The key (130) has a bitted section (152) at which one or more bittings (162, 170, 178) are formed and a non-bitted section (156) that is devoid of bitting. The bittings extend at a constant depth to an edge (140) of the key blade (134). |
