A high-temperature die casting apparatus (48;248) comprises a die (50;250) and a chiller (66;266). The die has a first die plate (56A;256A,56B;256B) and a second die plate (56A;256A,56B;256B) with respective first and second recesses defining a main part cavity (58;258) and gating (60;260). The apparatus can be used for die casting metal alloys having a melting temperature of at least about 1500° F (about 815° C).
