An image pickup apparatus includes a shake detecting unit configured to detect a shake of the image pickup apparatus and optical correcting units 203, 204 configured to move in a direction different from an optical axis so as to correct optically an image shake. Position detecting units 201, 201 are configured to detect a position of the optical correcting units and output position detection signals. A controlling unit is configured to control the optical correcting units. A range for detecting a position of a first position detecting unit is different from that of a second position detecting unit. This range may relate to an amplification factor of Hall signals of a position detecting signal amplifier and results in a different resolution for detecting the positions of the two position detecting units. The sensors may relate to the pitch and yaw directions of correcting lenses 103, 113. |
