The invention relates to a device (1') for creating a visual marker in the grass (3') on a golf course. The device comprises a base (5') configured to be steadily anchored in the ground under the grass (3') and an elongated marker (7') connected to the base (5'). The marker (7') is configured to be movable between an upright position in which the marker (7') extends away from the grass (3') and a lying position in which at least part of the marker (7') extends along the grass (3'). The marker (7') is configured to be brought from the upright position to the lying position when driven over by a lawnmower and return to the upright position after having been driven over. The marker (7') comprises a plurality of separate-standing bendable elongated elements (12) which are configured to be movable between said upright and lying position and to allow blades of grass to penetrate between adjacent elongated elements (12) in the lying position.
