<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine and a failure diagnosis method for a temperature sensor thereof, capable of diagnosing failure of the temperature sensor provided at the internal combustion engine, by using a fuel temperature sensor for measuring a fuel temperature without using a soak timer that is conventionally required. <P>SOLUTION: An ECU 10 includes: a means 11 for estimating a predicted temperature drop gradient Gr of fuel during the stop of an engine 1 from an atmospheric temperature T_air during the stop of the engine 1 and a stop fuel temperature Tf1 of the fuel during the stop of the engine 1 measured by a fuel temperature sensor 21; a means 13 for determining that the engine 1 is sufficiently soaked by using the stop fuel temperature Tf1, a start fuel temperature Tf2 of the fuel during the start of the engine 1 measured by the fuel temperature sensor 21, and the predicted temperature drop gradient Gr; and a means 14 for detecting failure of temperature sensors A and B, when it is determined that the engine 1 is sufficiently soaked and when the absolute value of a diagnosis temperature difference valueΔTab being the temperature difference between the respective temperature sensors A and B during the start of the engine 1 becomes larger than a failure determination value Vd. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
