The strike box (1) or mortise lock has a lock box having a lock housing (2) with a forend (5), where a rod connection (10) for connecting a rod is mounted in the lock housing. The rod connection is movable between a retracted open position and an extended closed position, where a locking device (13) operable from outside of the lock housing is provided, which is locked in the retracted open position in the blocking position of the rod connection.
