PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device for a pedestrian that prevents pillar cover parts from moving further outward in a vehicle width direction than A pillars during inflation and after inflation thereof and an automobile equipped with the airbag device for a pedestrian.SOLUTION: The airbag device for a pedestrian has: airbags 11 that have pillar cover parts 11a to be inflated along A pillars 5 and cowl cover parts 11b covering a left end side or right end side of a cowl; retainers 12 having the airbags 11 folded and stored therein; an inflator 13 for inflating the airbags; and tethers 14, one ends of which are connected to the pillar cover parts 11a. The one ends of the tethers 14 are connected to rear parts of the pillar cover parts 11a and the other ends of the tethers 14 are connected to the cowl cover parts 11b or the center sides in a vehicle width direction of the retainers 12.
