PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer that can efficiently reduce a waiting time for printing.SOLUTION: The printer includes: a memory 140 to store a user code for identifying a user and first determination information for determining whether a user is identified by the user code in association with each other; a communicator 130 to receive a job containing the user code and print data; a printer engine 160 to print the received print data on a recording medium in a first print mode having a first printing speed or a second print mode having a second printing speed higher than the first printing speed; a determiner 121 to determine whether the user is identified by second determination information for identifying a user on the basis of the first determination information associated with the user code contained in the received job and the second determination information; and a switcher 123 to switch from the first print mode to the second print mode if it is determined that the user identified by the second determination information is the user identified by the user code.
