PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for shielding an MRI device and a linac from each other.SOLUTION: A radiation therapy system 100 comprises a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system 102 combined with an irradiation system, the MRI system including one or more linear accelerators (linacs) that emit respective radiation beams suitable for radiation therapy. The MRI system further includes a split magnet system, comprising first and second main magnets separated by gap. A gantry 106 is positioned in the gap between the first and second main MRI magnets and supports the linac(s) of the irradiation system. The gantry is rotatable independently to the MRI system and can reposition an angle of the linac(s). Shielding is also provided in the form of magnetic and/or RF shielding. Magnetic shielding shields the linac(s) from the magnetic field generated by the MRI magnets. RF shielding shields the MRI system from RF radiation generated from the linac. |
