METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR RECOGNITION OF SPEED LIMIT SIGN USING FRONT CAMERA

The present invention relates to a speed limit sign recognition system using a front camera and a method thereof. The system tracks a sign continuously present in an image which is obtained by recording the speed limit sign in front of a driver by using a camera mounted on the front of a vehicle, recognizes the number in the sign, and notify the driver of the actual speed limit by using the recognized number. The system includes: an image acquisition unit which uses the front camera to obtain a front image; a recognition unit which recognizes the numbers in the detected sign; a tracking unit which tracks the sign continuously present in the front image to remove the temporally misrecognized object; and a determination unit which determines the speed limit recognition result of the recognized sign.
