PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which is capable of preventing the occurrence of a system error by not detecting rotation of a heated rotating body while removing a jam, and to provide an image forming apparatus comprising the same.SOLUTION: In a state in which a side cover 21 is opened, a rotation detection switching lever 70 moves towards a direction (a direction of an arrow A) in which its end part 70a protrudes from a fixing device 13 by a biasing force of a second coil spring 77. At that time, a cam surface 39b of a second idle gear 39 engages with a concave part 73 of the rotation detection switching lever 70, and therefore the second idle gear 39 moves towards a direction of an arrow B by a biasing force of a first coil spring 42. As a result, the second idle gear 39 is disposed in a first position in which it is disengaged with the first idle gear 37 and an actuator gear 40, and therefore even if a fixing roller 131 rotates, rotation detection of the fixing roller 131 is not performed because the actuator gear 40 stands still. |
