PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that reduces wasteful liquid consumption to remove dew condensation liquid generated at a nozzle face without causing a load on the nozzle face.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a recording head including a droplet discharging nozzle; and a wiper member for performing sweep up cleaning the nozzle face of the recording head; dew condensation amount determination means for detecting or estimating a dew condensation amount generated on the nozzle face; and overflow control means for controlling to overflow the liquid from the nozzle when the wiper member cleans the nozzle face. The overflow control means controls to reduce an overflow amount to be overflowed relative to the overflow amount when the dew condensation amount is small when the dew condensation amount determination means determines that the dew condensation amount is large.
