PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions and methods for immunization using CD1d ligand.SOLUTION: The invention relates to immunogenic compositions comprising CD1d ligands, which elicit long term immune memory in the absence of booster doses and/or in the absence of multiple priming doses. The invention further relates to immunogenic compositions comprising CD1d ligands and antigens derived from influenza virus, Group B streptococcus and serogroup B meningococcus. The amount of CD1d to be administered to a patient to induce immune response is, though it may vary according to the age and bodyweight of the patient to whom the composition is administered, usually 1-100 μg/kg bodyweight. Surprisingly, low doses of the CD1d ligand enhance immune response to a co-administered antigen, and sufficiently promote long term immunological memory to the antigen. |
