Provided is an electric power steering device capable of accurately detecting steering torque without using a torque sensor, and capable of performing appropriate steering assist control. When a torque sensor (3) is in normal state, an alternative torque (T0) computed on the basis of an angular signal and a torque detection value (Ti) detected by the torque sensor (3) are compared to compute an alternative torque correction value (Tc), which is then stored. When the torque sensor (3) is in normal state, steering assist control is performed on the basis of the torque detection value (Ti) detected by the torque sensor (3). When abnormality develops in the torque sensor (3), steering assist control is performed on the basis of a corrected alternative torque (T1) obtained by correcting the alternative torque (T0) with the alternative torque correction value (Tc). |
