PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle-based system and method that can efficiently obtain a biological material.SOLUTION: A method for obtaining a biological material is as follows. Lysing includes agitating a specimen in a chamber 1604 along with a medium that includes a particulate lysing material that has an affinity for the biological material. The lysing material includes beads or other material coated with a material that facilitates binding. The medium includes a fluid with a high salt or low pH level. The biological material is eluted by decreasing the salt level or increasing the pH level. The lysing materials with two or more different affinities are employed. Heating is used. The lysing is performed in a flow through apparatus.
