The present invention relates to a processor-based timing generator and a method thereof and a CMOS image sensor using the same and provides a timing generator and a method thereof and a CMOS image sensor where timing signals are generated based on the processor (ASISP) to provide good expandability and flexibility and also very high performance despite the small power and size. The timing generator comprises: a timing generation control unit that creates a timing pattern to control the timing generation unit; a timing generation unit that generates a timing signal depending on the timing pattern received from the timing generation control unit; and an interface unit to provide signal interfacing with neighboring devices.
