<p>A germ-free beverage lid system 100 comprising a lid 112 and a protective covering 130. The lid seal about a circumference of the drinking edge (158 fig.2) of a disposable cup (155 fig.2) and the detachable protective covering is attached to a top surface (124 fig.2) of the lid. The covering protects the drinking surface of the lid from being contaminated with dirt and germs and can be removed from the top surface by a user to allow the beverage held within a container to be consumed. The protective cover can provide a closed and evacuated zone to protect that can resist heat transfer to help keep the contents of the cup at a desired temperature. The cup lid can be comprise of a BPA-free plastic or a molded paper. The protective cover can be specially designed for the plastic lids that are used for beverages sold in coffee house chains, fast food restaurants, convenience stores, and similar outlets. The intent is to provide a more hygienic means of offering these types of lids to consumers, helping to create a sterile cup lid to stop the spread of germs and bacteria.</p> |
