PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a unimolecular metal complex having increased activity in copolymerization of carbon dioxide and an epoxide.SOLUTION: A unimolecular metal complex having increased activity in copolymerization of carbon dioxide and an epoxide is provided. A method to use such a kind of metal complex for polymer synthesis is also provided. In one embodiment, a metal complex including an active species linked to a polydentate ligand coordinated to an active metal center of the complex and having cocatalytic activity is provided. In a specified embodiment, the unimolecular metal complex and the using method of the same in copolymerization of carbon dioxide and the epoxide are provided.
