PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent video decoder.SOLUTION: An intra-prediction mode coding method determines an intra-prediction mode of a current block, by examining validity of an MPM candidate of the current block, determines the number of effective MPM candidates, and when the number of effective MPM candidates is smaller than a predetermined number, an additional intra-prediction mode is added as an MPM candidate. In adding it, MPM candidates can be adaptively added by directionality of the effective MPM candidates. Also, when coding residual intra-prediction modes, by the directionality of the effective MPM candidates, residual intra-prediction modes are realigned. Thus, by adding the MPM candidates by directionality of the effective MPM candidate or realigning the residual intra-prediction modes, there is an effect that coding information about the intra-prediction mode of the current block comes first. |
