PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation shield material having an excellent radiation shield effect that: has flowability allowing filling and draining with a pump; shows the properties of a plastic material after being filled; and extremely reduces the possibility of occurrence of bleeding.SOLUTION: A radiation shield material includes at least: 100.0 pts. mass of water; 6.0-20.0 pts. mass of clay mineral powder; and 30.0-400.0 pts. mass of barium sulfate powder. A method for manufacturing the radiation shield material includes at least the steps of: mixing water and clay mineral powder to obtain a suspension liquid; and mixing the suspension liquid and barium sulfate powder to obtain fluid compositions.
