PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition system capable of more appropriately generating an ignition signal supplied to two coil pairs and suppressing the abrasion of each ignition plug in a case of multiple ignition.SOLUTION: First and second ignition signals are generated so that a first discharge period TSP1 from start to end of electric discharge generated by carrying current across a first primary coil 11a partially overlaps a second discharge period TSP2 from start to end of electric discharge generated by carrying current across a second primary coil 12a, start time of the first discharge period TSP1 is earlier than start time of the second discharge period TSP2, and so that an overlap discharge period TOVL in which the first and second discharge periods overlap each other is equal to a set overlap period. The set overlap period is set such that a peak discharge current is a minimum in a range in which blow-off does not occur, in response to the first discharge period TSP1, a blow-off threshold ISPTH that is a minimum of a discharge current value at which the blow-off does not occur, and a minimum peak value ISPPKL that is a discharge current value at the start time of the first discharge period TSP1. |
