PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus and a control method, which enable using of a secondary battery as a drive source.SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus includes: status display means 323 for displaying a status of a secondary battery the information processing apparatus is allowed to use as a drive source; control means 200 for controlling an operation mode of the apparatus and a state of power supply to the status display means 323; and instruction accept means for accepting a displaying instruction to the status display means 323. The control means 200 is configured so that, in shifting the information processing apparatus to a power-save mode, the status display means 323 is shifted to a power shutoff state from the energized state; while, in the power-save mode, the status display means 323 is shifted to the energized mode to display a status in response to an event of the instruction accept means accepting a displaying instruction, and the status display means 323 is shifted to a power shutoff mode in response to releasing of the displaying instruction. |
