The present invention relates to a system taking an image during a vehicle impact and a control method thereof. Specifically, the present invention relates to a system determining the time of damage to road facilities by vehicle driving, automatically taking an image of the vehicle which causes the damage and storing the taken image or transmitting the taken image to a preset device and a control method thereof. The image taking system related to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an image taking unit taking the image of the road facilities and generating image data; an impact sensing unit sensing the impact to the road facilities by the vehicle to generate an electrical signal; a control unit determining recording start time by the electrical signal; and a memory storing the image data generated by the image taking unit after the start time according to the control operation of the control unit.
