PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing propylene, by which propylene is continuously and efficiently produced from ethanol.SOLUTION: In the method for producing propylene by producing acetone and hydrogen from ethanol and water, and making the produced acetone and hydrogen react with each other, the acetone and the hydrogen are produced in the presence of an iron-zinc-alkali-containing catalyst which contains iron, zinc, an alkali metal, and/or an alkaline earth metal and in which the molar ratio of the alkali metal, and/or the alkaline earth metal to zinc is 0.2 to 2, and the propylene is produced in the presence of an indium-containing catalyst which includes either indium oxide or a composite oxide including indium or an indium-containing catalyst which is formed by supporting indium on a carrier and which includes the indium as an element of 1 mass% or more with respect to the total mass of the catalyst. |
