<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger combining a function for rapidly charging a battery to be charged while feeding a constant current, and a function for performing insulation test of a charging cable that connects the charger side and the battery side electrically according to the CHAdeMO standard. <P>SOLUTION: The charger comprises a capacitor 11 connected between a pair of conductors of a charging cable 14 that feeds a DC current to a battery B, a resistor 23 connected in parallel with the capacitor, an interrupter 24 connected in series with the resistor, and a control circuit 19 which charges the capacitor by applying a voltage corresponding to a voltage drop occurring in the resistor by switching the interruptor on thereby feeding a DC current to the resistor, and then performs insulation test of the charging cable by feeding a discharge current to the charging cable while discharging the capacitor via the charging cable, by switching the interrupter off while stopping conversion of an AC current thereby applying the voltage of the capacitor between a pair of conductors of the charging cable. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
