[Class 51 (i)] An -air ,preheater for furnaces applicable to furnace doors comprises a hollow box-like body having a convex front wall facing the fire and internal spaced horizontal baffles 37 ... 40 providing tortuous air passages leading from 'an inlet at the bottom of the box to openings 26 in the upper part of the box which deliver the air -over the fire. The openings 26 are formed in a bulge at 'the upper part of the box and are directed downwardly and splayed outwardly to deliver fan-like jets.
