To further effectively promote expression of a clock gene and a hyaluronic acid synthase gene in skin. A composition comprising one kind or two kinds selected from lavender oil and eucalyptus oil, and an alkylene oxide derivative represented by general formula (I) is applied onto skin: R 1 O-[(AO) m (EO) n ]-R 2 (I) (wherein, AO represents an oxyalkylene group having 3-4 carbon atoms; EO represents an oxyethylene group; m and n independently represent an average number of moles of the oxyalkylene group having 3-4 carbon atoms added and the oxyethylene group added, respectively, and satisfy expressions: 1 ‰¤ m ‰¤ 70 and 1 ‰¤ n ‰¤ 70, wherein a ratio of the oxyethylene group to a total of the oxyalkylene group and the oxyethylene group is 20-80 mass%. The oxyalkylene group and the oxyethylene group may be added in a block form or random form.
