[Also in Group XXVIII] The side walls of an inward flow hollow prismshaped filter consists of accordian-pleated filter paper strips 1, Fig. 2, mounted in a rigid frame, e.g. flanged top, bottom and side plates 4a, 4, 5, Fig. 3, the fold lines 2 being transverse to the edges of the prism and the longitudinal margins of each folded strip being inserted fold by fold between the folds at the adjacent margin of an adjacent strip and maintained in contact by the pressure exerted by the frame. The fold lines 2 extend between the apices of opposite notches 2a and along parallel lines midway between the notches. In a modification use is made of paper strips without notches; the apices of the corners of assembled strips being trimmed.
