The present invention relates to a thin film transistor array substrate, which enables to prevent a light escape and to compensate a difference between a display area and a non-display area, and a manufacturing method thereof. According to the present invention, the thin film transistor array substrate comprises: a substrate having the display area and the non-display area; a plurality of pixel areas defined as data wiring and gate wiring of the display area of the substrate cross; common wiring formed to correspond between the neighboring pixel areas, and being in parallel with the gate wiring; a thin film transistor and a color filter formed in each pixel area; a first dummy color filter installed between the neighboring pixel areas; a second dummy color filter formed in the non-display area of the substrate, and having at least one groove on an upper side; and a protective film formed on a front side to cover the first and second dummy color filters, wherein the protective film is filled inside the groove.
