ETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE POLYESTER RESIN FOR FORMING CONTAINER, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME

An ethylene terephthalate type polyester resin for forming containers, having an intrinsic viscosity in a range of 0.80 to 0.90 dL/g, containing copolymerizable components other than the ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid in an amount of less than 1.5 mol%, containing monohydroxyethyl terephthalate and bishydroxyethyl terephthalate in a total amount of less than 0.005% by weight, and having a heat of fusion of not more than 50 J/g and a crystallinity of less than 60%. The ethylene terephthalate type polyester resin has a high intrinsic viscosity, excellent stretch formability and excellent melting property.
