PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dummy shaft which prevents the coming-off of a washer, an assembling device of a differential unit using the dummy shaft, and a method of manufacturing the differential unit.SOLUTION: A dummy shaft 2 penetrates a pinion gear 12 and a washer 14 contacted with an outer surface 12w of the pinion gear 12, thereby temporarily assembling a differential unit 1. The dummy shaft 2 is composed of a body portion 21, and a moving portion 22 which is slidable in a direction coming close to or separating from the body portion 21; and provided with a receiving groove 22d for hooking the washer 14 to the moving portion 22.
