PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine equipped with a mechanical supercharger whose discharge amount is changeable, for enabling scavenging operation.SOLUTION: A control device 2 for an internal combustion engine 1 equipped with a mechanical supercharger 13 whose discharge amount is changeable includes an intake pressure sensor 85 provided in an intake passage 6 of the internal combustion engine at the further downstream side than the supercharger for detecting a pressure in the intake passage, and an exhaust pressure sensor 86 provided in an exhaust passage 7 of the internal combustion engine at the further upstream side than a catalyst converter 23 for detecting a pressure in the exhaust passage. Periods for opening an intake valve 61 and an exhaust valve 62 of the internal combustion engine involve a valve overlap set as a period for concurrently opening both of them. A pressure difference control mode is provided for controlling the discharge amount of the supercharger so that an intake pressure acquired by the intake pressure sensor is higher than an exhaust pressure acquired by the exhaust pressure sensor and has a difference from the exhaust pressure to be within a predetermined range. |
