A liquid crystal display device according to one embodiment of the present invention includes a first substrate, a first sub pixel electrode which is formed on the first substrate, an insulation layer which is formed on the first sub pixel electrode, a second sub pixel electrode which is formed on the insulation layer and overlaps the first sub pixel electrode, a second substrate which faces the first substrate, a common electrode which is formed on the second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer which is injected between the first substrate and the second substrate. Voltages with the same amplitudes are applied to the first sub pixel electrode and the second sub pixel electrode. The second sub pixel electrode includes a plurality of branch electrodes. The first sub pixel electrode has a planar shape of a plate type. An interval between two adjacent branch electrodes among the branch electrodes is equal to or wider than the widths of the branch electrodes. The dielectric anisotropy of the liquid crystal layer is -about 2.0 to -2.7 at 30 degrees centigrade. The cell interval of the liquid crystal layer is about 2.6um to 3um. |
