摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base metal for grinding wheel and a method of manufacturing the base metal in which material property is suitable for high speed rotation, and which achieve higher efficiency of grinding processing and higher accuracy of processing by high speed rotation.SOLUTION: There is provided a base metal for grinding wheel which is formed in a disk shape, and used as a grinding wheel by adhering an abrasive grain layer on a surface, which is formed of a metal-ceramics composite material having a metal material made of aluminum alloy, and a ceramics material made of low thermal expansion ceramics or negative expansion ceramics, and in which a coefficient of linear expansion is 13 ppm/°C or more and 17 ppm/°C or less, specific gravity is 3.0 or less, and tensile strength is 400 MPa or more. Thus, when the base metal is used for the grinding wheel and rotated at high speed, the base metal or the abrasive grain layer is prevented from being deformed to cause distortion, and processing accuracy can be improved. Further, load to a grinding machine is reduced, electric power required for rotation of a grinding stone can be made smaller, and breakage in high speed rotation can be prevented.</p>
