PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron oxide-coated layered silicate pigment that strongly exhibits the color inherent in iron oxide and is excellent in gloss.SOLUTION: A method for preparing an iron oxide-coated layered silicate pigment of this invention includes a step of simultaneously adding an oxidant and an aqueous solution containing Feto a slurry of base plate particles, so that the pH of the slurry is kept constant between 8 and 9 during stirring, and the addition rate of the aqueous solution containing Feis about 3.0×10g/min or lower, in terms of FeO, per 1 mof the surface area of the base plate particle. |
