PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially easily producing trisphenols at high yield and high purity, which are useful as raw materials for polymeric compounds such as an epoxy resin and a polycarbonate resin or raw materials or additives for a photoresist, and to provide a 4-acylaralkylphenol derivative as a raw material of the trisphenols.SOLUTION: The production method aims to produce trisphenols represented by general formula (1) by using 4-acylaralkyl phenol derivatives represented by 4-[1-methyl-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl]acetophenone or 4-[1-(4-acetoxyphenyl)-1-methylethyl]acetophenone, as a starting material. In formula (1), Rto R, Rto R, and Rrepresent an alkyl group, an alkoxyl group, or the like; Rto Rrepresent H or an alkyl group; and n represents an integer of 1 to 4. |
