<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify adjustment of a pointed position of a pointing device to a position intended by an operator. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit 11 is provided. In a normal mode, the control unit 11 outputs, to a light image forming unit 13, a control signal which is based on first image data corresponding to an input image signal. In a zoom mode, the control unit 11 enlarges, with a second magnification, partial image data of an enlarged area including a position which corresponds to a pointed position indicated by pointed position data in the first image data. The second magnification corresponds to: a first distance between a pointing device 20 and a projection object 40; and a size of a projection image calculated based on a first magnification for a projection lens 14 which projects a light image formed by the light image forming unit 13 according to the control signal and based on a second distance between a projection device 10 and the projection object 40.
