A computer-implemented method of defining an entity (e.g. user information such as job, interests etc, a document) for a graph-based information system, comprises the steps of receiving user input at one or more processors to create or select one of a plurality of options for a node 211 in a graph; receiving user input at one or more processors to create or select one of a plurality of options for one or more child nodes 212, 213 in the graph; defining a value (e.g. word, measurement, type) for the created/selected option for one of the child nodes at one or more processors in response to user input; and storing the value in at least one memory. The node and one or more child nodes are displayed within a user interface at a user device. The graph-based architecture may be adapted to work with any type of entity which is associated with structured information. The graph architecture may be used to provide a social network. |
