A method for synthesizing a liquid fuel, which comprises a synthesizing step wherein a liquid fuel is synthesized by reacting, in a reactor, a synthesis gas mainly composed of a carbon monoxide gas and a hydrogen gas with a slurry which is obtained by suspending solid catalyst particles in a liquid, and a synthesis gas-supplying step wherein the synthesis gas is supplied to the reactor from a plurality of supply means which are so provided to the reactor as to have different heights.
